SHREVEPORT, LA- Joseph Ernest (Joe) Reeks passed away to his new residence in heaven peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Willis-Knighton Pierremont. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church followed by a reception in the parlor. Fr. Paul Martin will officiate. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue.

Joe was born to John T. and Ernestine Landry Reeks on October 24, 1924. He was a life-long resident of Shreveport, attending C. E. Byrd High School, Tulane University, and graduating from Centenary College, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the Marine Corps during WWII. He received three battle stars for his participation in the invasions of Guam and Iwo Jima, witnessing the historic raising of the American flag.

He married the former Ann Tench in 1947 and together they raised three daughters. He was a devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and was recently bestowed the honor of Worship Leader Emeritus for his eighty years of service in the Episcopal Church.

Joe Joe was a dedicated husband of sixty-five years, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son Carnes, his grandson, Scott Leyton Rials, and his brother, Jack Reeks. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann, his daughters, JoAnn R. Rose and husband Chris, Rebecca R. Rials and husband Guy, and Beverly R. Casso and husband, Bernie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mandy Rose Metrejean and husband Chris, Missy Rose Heidelberg and husband Mack, Andrew Christian Rose, Stephanie Jeanne Rials, Stephen Joseph Couvillon, Kelsey Ann Couvillon, David Casso and wife Stephanie, and Emily Casso. His great-grandchildren, Emily, Will and Caroline Metrejean, Madison Heidelberg, and John David Casso brought great joy to Joe Joe's life. He is also survived by his sisters, Marjorie Reeks, Mary Ann Graves and husband, John; also sister-in-law, Patsy Reeks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Joe as pallbearers will be grandsons Andrew Rose, Stephen Couvillon, David Casso, Chris Metrejean, and Mack Heidelberg. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of St. Paul's Guild of Worship Leaders.
