He was the son of Henry (Born Aug 20, 1816 and Died 5/4/1872, Bloomer, Montcalm, MI)and Minerva (Mulnix) Allen (Born Dec 29, 1825 and Died 9/19/1867 in Bloomer, Montcalm, MI). He married (1) Mary E. Rose at Stanton, Montcalm County, Michigan, on October 24, 1882. They had two sons; (2) Ida Maria Stephens at Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, on December 15, 1898. They had three children.
