Born March 26, 1925 in North Carolina he was the son of the late Hoke McCombs Sr. and Stella McCombs.
Hoke retired from the Ernest Maier Block Company. He was a Volunteer Fire Fighter for 20 years at Tuxedo-Cheverly in PG County.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hyattsville, Maryland.
In his earlier years he enjoyed golf and bowling.
In addition to his loving wife Hilda he is survived by his three children, David E. McCombs and wife Holly of Highland, MD, Claudia L. Spivey and husband Richard of Mt. Airy, MD and Harvey W. McCombs of Burtonsville, MD, eight grandchildren, Jillian, Jordan, Mark, Stacey, Laura, Hunter, Ryan and Jennifer, two great grandchildren, Savanna and Olivia, a brother, William B. McCombs and wife Maureen and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura L. Moore, a son, Ronald E. McCombs, a brother, Herbert McCombs, two sisters, Patsy Condore and Sandra McCombs.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy on Sunday, November 27 from 2-4PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 28th at 10:00AM with Rev. Rudolf Kampia officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
