FUNERAL HELD FOR MR. J. E. WHITESIDE
Orangeburg Textile Superintendent Dies; Lived With Daughter at Avondale
Avondale, Dec. 26. Mr. John Edward Whiteside, Sr., 59, died in the hospital at Spartanburg last Wednesday, after an illness of two months. Funeral services were held Christmas eve from the Caroleen Methodist church, with Rev. Mr. Lynch officiating. Interment took place in the Caroleen-Henrietta cemetery.
Mr. Whiteside had been superintendent of a cotton mill at Orangeburg, S. C., for more than twenty years, resigning there about two months ago, on account of ill health. He moved to Avondale following his resignation, and had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Esley Owens and Mr. Owens.
Overseers of the mill over which Mr. Whiteside was superintendent, acted as pallbearers.
The deceased is survived by his widow, two sons, one daughter, Mrs. Esley Owens, one brother and one sister.
