John was a Very active member Altoona Shrine Drum and Bugle Corps for the past many years He held the the position of Treasure until 2010. He left behind a family of dear friends The drum corps family.
He spent many years with us at Virginia Beach Shrine Convention's We Had the best time and the best laughs there with him and Vivian his wife.

John J. Branick, 87, of Altoona, died Friday morning at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
Mr. Branick was born in Binghamton, N.Y., son of the late Andrew and Anna (Simcho) Branick Sr. He married Vivian M. McTavish on June 15, 1951, in New York City on the "Bride & Groom Program" on CBS Television.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Loretta Branick, of Binghamton, N.Y. and a sister-in-law, Helen Branick.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Branick Jr.

He retired as an assistant principal at Altoona Area School District with 30-plus years service. He previously was employed by the Altoona Park & Recreation Commission, was a teacher and football coach at Roosevelt Junior High School and was the assistant superintendent of schools.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Altoona.
Mr. Branick was a 1941 graduate of Binghamton Central High School, attended Peekskill Military School and received a bachelor of science degree from Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y.; a master's degree from Indiana University of Indiana; and did graduate work at Penn State University.
He was a member of Logan Lodge No. 490 F & AM Masons and Jaffa Shrine, where he was a member of the Drum & Bugle Corps.
He enjoyed Penn State football and traveling.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II with the 330th Bomb Group stationed in Guam.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc. where a Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. A religious service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor Tyler Pepper officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Altoona Area School District Foundation, 1415 Sixth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602; Jaffa Shrine, 2200 Brood Ave., Altoona, PA 16601; or First Baptist Church 1209 17th St., Altoona, PA 16601.
