George Hilton Barker, 90, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in Montgomery, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 3 PM EDT at Second Baptist Church, 2800 Second Avenue, Columbus, Ga., with Reverend Chance Darlington and Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 PM EDT at Vance-Brooks Funera l Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, Ga. Mr. Barker was born January 11, 1918 in Elba, Alabama, to the late Charles Henry Barker and Cora Reeves Barker. He was a deacon at Second Baptist Church, Columbus, Ga., where he had been a member since 1950. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nell Barker and a son Alan Barker. Mr. Barker is survived by two daughters: Joan Darlington of Montgomery, Al., Caren Locklar and Ricky of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers: Charles Barker and Roberta of Dothan, Al., Lee Barker and Katie of Harrison, Ga.; two sisters: Odell Reeves Of Elba, Al., Sibyl Plummer of Cleveland, OH.; 5 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
