Leslie James Watson was born on February 9, 1949 in South Dakota and his home of record was Los Angeles.
He served in Vietnam with the 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry (Currahees) 101st Airborne Division. He was part of 3rd Platoon, C Company.
From "The Stand Alone Battalion" by Jerald Berry and Joe Alexander: "On April 13, an unknown-sized enemy force engaged the 1st Platoon of Company A, resulting in the death of Sgt. Juan Garcia-Garay, 19, of Downey, California. Later that same day, an estimated company sized NVA force surrounded 3rd Platoon, Company C and attacked the Currahees with small arms and automatic weapons fire, as well as B-40 rockets. Sgt. Leslie James Watson, 21, of Los Angeles, California was killed, and two other Currahees were wounded during the firefight."
Leslie was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Watson; three brothers, Kent Eugene, Randy Dale and Gregory Lane.
He is buried in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
