Shirah Funeral Held Yesterday
Funeral services for Isaac John Shirah, 49-year-old Columbian, who died at his home at 2014 Main street Thursday, were held yesterday at Brown's Chapel church on the Leesburg road, conducted by the Rev. J. Dean Crain, pastor of Park Street Baptist church.
Mr. Shirah was well known and genuinely liked by many who regret to learn of his death.
He is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. J. M. Shirah; five sons, Willie Shirah of Spartanburg, Heywood and J. C. Shirah of Columbia and Dillard and Jerome Shirah of Lykesland; five daughters, Mrs. G. D. Easler, Mrs. M. D. Byrd, Maggie and Louise Shirah, all of Columbia, and Mrs. T. D. Neeley of Lykesland; one sister, Mrs. J. Tucker of English , and the following brothers: J. W. Shirah, W.H. Shirah and L. Shirah, all of Columbia, T. L. Shirah of California, L. V. Shirah of Philippine Islands, D. R. Shirah of Mississippi and H. C. Shirah of Rockingham, N.C.
Pallbearers were: Honorary, E. T. Porter, S. A. Myers, J. W. Hawkins, R. D. Walker, S. C. Sessions, W. G. LeCent and T. E. Lightfoot, all Spanish War veterans; active, J. T. Ellisor, Bill Cunningham, J. R. Hipp, Jim Isenhower, O.T. Keen and W. R. Hornsby.
