John Y. Cleland, well known and lifelong resident of Boonsboro, died at his home last night at 10:45 o'clock, after an illness of 11 weeks of paralysis, aged 80.
He was the son of the late Thomas W. and Malinda (Fritz) Cleland.
He has been janitor at the Boonsboro High School for 41 years, and has been a member of the Lutheran Church, LeGrange Lodge No. 36, I.O.O.F.
The following sisters survive; Mrs. Clara Poffenberger, Hagerstown; Miss Catherine, at home, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, services at the Bast funeral home, Rev. M. A. Ashby officiating. Interment in Boonsboro cemetery. Interment in Boonsboro cemetery.
The pallbearers will be from the I.O.O.F.
