WALTERS Funeral for Jacqueline V. Oberly Seymour, 75, Walters, will be at noon Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Brown Church, south of Walters, with the Rev. Videll Yackeshi officiating.

Burial will be at Walters Cemetery.

Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Brown Church.

Jacqueline went to be with her Lord and to be greeted by her relatives on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at her home in Walters after a long illness. Jacqueline was born Nov. 24, 1938, in Hominy, to Eva Winnerchy Oberly and Acey Oberly Sr. Jacqueline was a member of the Comanche and Osage Nations. She grew up in Walters, and was a 1956 graduate of Walters High School. She attended Bacone College in Muskogee, and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1960. She met her husband, Peter Seymour, while working in Chicago, and they were married in 1965. They had two children together: Jay Brian Seymour and Martin Allen Seymour. Jacqueline was the 1956 Comanche Tribal Princess. She was employed with Riverside Indian School, American Indian Center in Chicago, and Oklahoma State Department of Mental Health, from which she retired. After retirement, she returned to work with the Johnson O'Malley Program and Comanche Nation New Pathways. She enjoyed her work with the Walters Service Club, attending pow-wows, laughing with family and friends, and she loved spending time with her animals especially her two dogs: Newman and Chico. She was a huge OU Football Fan, Oklahoma City Thunder Fan, and loved watching golf on TV. She had a great sense of humor and a kind heart.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents: Eva and Acey Oberly Sr.; her husband, Peter Seymour; sister, Yvonne Wahahrockah; and brother, John Oberly.

She is survived by her son, Jay Seymour and wife Dana, of Geronimo; and son, Marty Seymour, of the home; her brothers: Acey Oberly Jr., of Kamiah, Idaho; Frank Oberly Sr., Norman; Marty Oberly and wife Linda, Yukon; Gary Oberly and wife Jackie, Norman; sisters: Margrett Kelley, Fort Gibson; Sara Oberly, Portland, Ore.; grandchildren: Erlinda Rodriguez, Rudy Rodriguez, and Andrew Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
