MELBOURNE — William Lee "Bill" Gibson, 92, of Melbourne died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, in Batesville.
Born June 2, 1915, in Baird, Texas, he was the son of William L. and Leona Logan Gibson. He was united in marriage to Ghita Jacobs on April 3, 1938, in Bovina, Texas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his working years, he was employed as a machinist for Genuine Parts, now National Automotive Parts Association.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years; two sons, Larry Gibson of Mena and Donnie Gibson of Southaven, Miss.; two daughters, Tish Garrett of Memphis and Jan Branum of Melbourne; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and six sisters.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Steve Stevenson officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Danny Branum, Larry Gibson, Donnie Gibson, Gary Helm, James Smith and Sean Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Marler, Johnny Marler, Lance Garrett and Wendell Garrett.
