Jean, a daughter of Torrey Gaunt Osgerby and Lucille Mae Haviland, married Kenneth Ernest Buchinger, son of Ernest Buchinger and Dorothy Humes, in Richville, Tuscola County, Michigan on October 18, 1947.
Jean and Kenneth were the parents of four children:
1) William Kenneth Buchinger (1948-1957), who married Sandra Ann Wheeler;
2) Thomas Randall Buchinger (1953- ), who married Linda Elizabeth Barnett;
3) Lori Jean Buchinger (1954- ), who married Kendall James "Jim" Zimmer;
4) Carol Ellen Buchinger (1958- ), who married Larry Finner.
Jean died of cancer on December 31, 2002.

Children from out of state and friends from nearby came to celebrate the life of Evelyn "Jean" Buchinger. The first Reading was from Isaiah 25: 6-9. The homily message was of how Jean was a true pillar of this church and community. And a friend to all that knew her. Aunt Jean for about 10 years was the Trinity Volley Ball coach and is well remembered by all of the faculty and students who were coached by Jean. To Jean family was the source of her strength and life. To Jean family was all.
