Register Guard Eugene Lane Co. OR May 10, 2000 A memorial service will be held May 11 for Avis B. Holland of Eugene, who died May 6 of Alzheimer's disease. She was 82. Holland was born April 8, 1918, in Alex, OK. She attended high school in Anthony, Kan., before moving to Medford, where she graduated from high school. She married Robert Holland in Medford on April 17, 1938. He died in 1987. Holland lived in Eugene from 1939 to 1958 before moving to Oceanlake, now Lincoln City, where she operated a motel business with her husband. They also operated a ranch near Hermiston from 1963 to 1965. In 1977, they retired and moved to Hawaii. Holland moved back to Eugene in 1997. An avid golfer, she made three holes in one, the first on her 65th birthday. At one time she was the club champion in Waikoloa, Hawaii. Survivors include a son, R. Leo of Lakewood, CO.; and one grandchild. A daughter, Chole Holland, died in 1996. Thursday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at River Road Church of Christ in Eugene. Inurnment will be private. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
