YUMA, Ariz. — E. Eugene "Gene" Cox, 89, of Yuma, Ariz., passed away Aug. 2, 2016, at his home after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Pauline; brother, Richard; and a grandchild, Brett.

Gene married the love of his life, Helen Kopp, after his return from his service in North Africa during World War II.

Gene is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen; daughters, Paula and Lori; sons, Dale and Kim; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Gene graduated from Moore High School, Farmer City. He was proud to be a farmer and raised his family on their farm off of Harris/Bethel Road. Gene and Helen enjoyed the beauty of the Southwest and made Yuma, Ariz., their final home together.
