Mrs. Henry M. Skinner, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Rockford, died last night at 10:10 o'clock at her home 1240 North Court street after an illness extending over one week of sciatica and other complications. Mrs. Skinner was taken ill a week ago yesterday and had been failing since last Thursday. No hope for her recovery was entertained since alarming symptoms developed and for twenty-four hours before the end she was in a state of a coma.

Mrs. Skinner was a native of Erie county, Pennsylvania, where she was born, Jan. 24, 1837. Her maiden name was Miss Eleanor Stockwell and she was the daughter of Nelson and Mary Ann Stockwell. She came to Rockford when a young woman and made this city her home since the date of her arrival. Mrs. Skinner was married to Mr. Skinner in September, 1861. Mr. Skinner died Dec. 20, 1907.

For many years Mrs. Skinner was regarded as one of the most estimable women in the city. She took a deep interest in all worthy movements and was a devout member of Court Street Methodist church, being one of the oldest communicants. Her home life was ideal in every respect and her noble qualities endeared her of a wide circle of friends who will be deeply grieved to learn of her death.

Decedent is survived by the following children: Mrs. B.J. Bartlett, Miss Carrie R. Skinner and Roy R. Skinner, all of this city. One daughter, Lizzie R. Skinner, died in infancy. She had four sisters, the only survivor being Mrs. O.P. Tuttle of Ritzville, Wash.
No arrangements for the funeral have been made.
