SHREVEPORT, LA – Services for William F. "Buddy" Pennington will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday in the Chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Pennington died Wednesday after a lengthy illness. Born in 1917 in Winn Parish, Buddy was a resident of Shreveport most of his life. He owned and operated his own business, Pennington's Floors then was employed with the City of Shreveport in the Property Standards Department from which he retired.

Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Ophelia G. Pennington, and his brother, Glenn Pennington. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian B. "Teniny" Pennington; his sister, Doris P. Morgan of Shreveport; two daughters, Sylvia P. MacPheat and husband Dave, and Nancy P. Alexander and husband, Charles; four grandchildren, Jim Tidwell and wife, Sophia of Acworth, GA, Chuck Alexander, Cynthia T. King and Lesleigh A. Gibson, and husband David; and seven great-grandchildren.

Buddy was active for many years at the Masonic Lodge and was a lifetime member of the El Karubah Shrine Temple. He was a past Post Commander of the American Legion [Cedar Grove Post No. 6] and Chef de Gare of the 40 & 8 [Voiture 137]. During W.W.II he served in the Philippines in the U.S. Navy.

Pallbearers will be long-time friends, Al G. Hughes, J. W. Mitchell, David Van Aken, and Dallas Greene. Honorary pallbearers are Don Hathaway, Carlton Gentry and Bill Murphy. The family expresses their gratitude to the doctors and caregivers during his long illness. Rev. Buddy Hankens of Southside Baptist Church where he was a member will conduct the service.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Centuries Memorial at 8801 Mansfield Road from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday.
