Sgt. Jason T. Smith, 28, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Nov. 19 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Branch, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Marine Corps Bases Japan, Iwakuni, Japan. Jason is survived by his wife Janet, his parents, Buddy and Loretta Smith, his two sisters, Brandi Jo and Brittany, his grandparents, Tom and Carol Smith, his niece Kieley and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents William Allridge and Loretta Lloyd. He never met a stranger. He loved life, he loved people, and was proud to be a Marine. He was a member of the Marines EOD Corp.
