Elizabeth Broom was first married to Samuel P. Murphy, in Winston County, MS. They moved from MS to Louisiana, and lived in Jackson Parish. They had 8 children together. He died presumably in 1865, although unable to locate his grave, and she married a second time to William Broom. Have also been unable to locate his grave up to this time. She and Wm. Broom moved to Polk Co., TX, with most of her Murphy children. They had 2 children, Redic J. and Elmira Louise (Lou) Broom. It is believe Redic was possibly named after her father, Reddick Sims.
