Services for Jerald Jay McLane, 64, will be held 2pm Wednesday August 18, 2010 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Special Olympics South Carolina Area 7 1276 Assembly St., Columbia, SC 29201 or the American Diabetes Association 2711 Middleburg Dr., Suite A-8, Columbia, SC 29204.

Mr. McLane passed away suddenly August 15, 2010. Born in Sturgis, South Dakota he was raised by his grandmother Rosa Ella Hoover. Mr. McLane was a longtime Lexington resident who proudly served his country as a Military Policeman in the Americal Division of the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received two Army Commendation medals for Valor. After returning from the war he worked for and retired from the S. C. State Government.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce McLane; daughter and son-in-law, Maggie (Sam) Wessinger, Jr.; two grandchildren, Melissa (Matthew Rawl) and Jesse Wessinger, whom he greatly loved. He was pre-deceased by his grandmother and Pirate the best dog he could ask for.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lexington Medical Center emergency department and 3rd floor ICU physicians and staff.
