who was lost at sea in a shipping accident off Newport. His son Edward IV also became a ship's Captain and shipping merchant out of Newport and Tiverton. In 1716 he married Rebecca Cory who died in Killingworth, CT, but whose grave has never been found. By 1720 he was a well established shipping merchant, landowner and farmer, but in 1722 he died in a shipping accident and was buried at sea. He was the father of Edward Gray IV 1721, Daniel 1718, Mary 1719 and Capt. Phillip who was born after his father's death.
