He retired in 1986 after 40 years of teaching in Mont-gomery and Parke county schools. He had last been a principal at Ladoga Schools and a teacher and principal at Southmont High School.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater.

He was a life member of Freedom Baptist Church.

(He had) two sons, Ed and Dan Priebe two daughters, Jean Garrett and Debra Kay Priebe; two brothers, Junior and Donald Priebe; four sisters, Margaret Andrews, Mary
Gooding, Martha Greve, and Marjorie Younkin.
