Lyon County
Iowa, USA
Death: Sep. 30, 2003

"I'll see you in the morning, when the roses bloom again."

Beloved mother and grandmother. Daughter of Dutch immigrants. She married Henry "Hank" Kelderman on Aug. 15, 1946. They lived near Doon, Iowa (1946-52); Canton, South Dakota (1952-54); Hardwick, Minnesota (1954-56); and later near Luverne, Minn (1956-62). Susie later bought a house in Luverne. After Henry died, Susie raised her children on her own.

She loved God, her family, flowers, Lipton tea, Pizza Hut pizza, reading, and poetry. She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne. Before her health began declining, Susie was sassy and opinionated, a poet and storyteller.

A number of amusing stories could be told about Susie. She had a "lead foot" when it came to driving, and one year, gave a friend a ring for Christmas, tucked inside a roll of toilet paper. She was never materially rich, but left us with a wealth of love and memories. She also knew the pain of loss, having been widowed at a young age, as well as experiencing the deaths of others she loved. I'm sure they're having a grand reunion.

Susie died from renal failure at Tuff Memorial Home at age 78, and was survived by four children, ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.

Be happy for me now
For I am truly blessed.
I can enjoy my sweet reward
much sooner than the rest.

A million times I've needed her.
A million times I've cried.
If love alone could save her
She never would have died.
In life I loved her dearly,
In death I love her still.
In my heart she holds a place
No one can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose her,
But she didn't go alone.
For a part of me went with her
The day God took her home.

Last night I had a crazy dream
A wish was granted just for me.
It could be for anything.
I didn't ask for money
or a mansion in Malibu.
I simply wished, for one more day with you.

One more day
One more time
One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied.
But then again
I know what it would do.
Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you.

First thing I'd do is pray for time to crawl.
Then I'd unplug the telephone
And keep the TV off.
I'd hold you every second.
Say a million I love you's.
That's what I'd do, with one more day with you.

Remember me with smiles and laughter,
for that is how I will remember you.
If you can only remember me with tears,
then don't remember me at all.

A sincere thanks to all who leave tokens.
