Barbara went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday. She was born in OKC to Ora Louise (Hodge) and Isaac Vanhooser. Barbara left her parent’s farm to go to school at Harding in Searcy, Arkansas where she joined her brother, Jesse Vanhooser. There she worked her way through school by teaching young ladies on how to do their laundry and ironing. In later years, she went to cake decorating classes where she learned the art of making beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. Barbara is survived by her loving husband Ted J. Ashby of 56 years; daughter, Ann and Benny Chaney, spouse; grandson, Ryan Kohs, Shelley, spouse; granddaughter, Ashley, Brian Dick, Spouse; great-grandchildren, Justin Kohs and Jaycee Knight; brother, Jess Vanhooser; and many other family members and friends. Visitation will be from 10 am – 8 pm, Monday, October 19, 2015 with the family receiving visitors from 6-8 pm at Buchanan Funeral Service. Services to celebrate her life will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Buchanan Funeral Service in the Chapel.
