The following obiturary for Mrs. Rosendale has been contributed to the Times this week by J.B. Verhage.
This community was shocked Saturday afternoon. December 4, by the sudden death of Mrs. Rodendale, at her home near Dentonia. She had been out of her house the day before as usual.
Mrs. Rosendale was a familiar figure in this community for about 38 years. Death was due to heart failure. We had known her and had neighborly dealings with her for about 35 years and found her a woman who was willing and did pull her share of every load up hill as well as on the level, and her word was absolutly good. She was one of the early settlers of this community.
Mrs. Rosendale was born as Martge DeYong, in Vriesland St. Jacobus Parochia, Holland, Dec. 23, 1840. Was married to Bert Rosendale, May 5, 1864. To this union were born three girls and one boy, the latter living only a little over one short year.
Mrs. Rosendale came to Jewell county, Kansas, in 1874, to the farm now owned by Mr. Merryfield, where her husband was killed in a runaway. From that place they moved on a farm near Dentonia, where she died. She is survived by Mrs. Sarah Rosendale of Aamosa, Colorado, Mrs. H Rynken of near Lebanon and Mrs. R Wichers of near Dentonia. Wht the latter she made her home. All three daughters attended the funeral.
She was an active member of the Christian Reformed church at Dispatch, at which cemetery interment was made Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1909. Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Hylkema and Vanleeuwen.
