Roe, James W. (Jim), 65, passed away on Dec 17, 2010 as the result of a motorcycle accident on Oct 30, 2010, while in Florida. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carolyn Allen Roe of Lexington; son, Kevin S. Roe of Garrard County; a daughter, Kimberly D. Roe (Ray) of Lexington, and daughter, Julie Roe McGlamery (Shannon) of Stamping Ground; and his beloved grandchildren, Caitlin, Brittany, Austin, Shawn, Kevin Clay, Holli Rae and Jami Dru; father and stepmother, James and Lolita Roe; three sisters, Florida Ann Harris (Jimmy), Libby Padgett (Mike), Linda Aubrey (Glenn); and numerous other loving relatives. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Hisle Roe Goodwin; brother, Barry Wayne Roe; and his long time friends, Bob Taylor and Larry Sullivan, who will serve as his honorary pallbearers. Jim was born and raised in Lexington, KY. For many years he was in the building and construction business, and retired in 2002 as owner and operator of Sunset Marina on Herrington Lake. Jim was never one for sitting still. He loved riding his Harley and was a member of the Lexington Chapter of the H.O.G. As well as being a Kentucky Colonel he loved fishing, golfing, camping, and he enjoyed singing karaoke and spending time with family and friends. Jim was a loving husband, daddy and friend, but most of all he was a Papaw that loved his grandkids and "Angel" more than life itself. Life will never be the same without the love, laughter and friendship of Jim Roe. Hugs and moochies papaw, we love you. Funeral services will be 10:30am Thu at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Roe, Larry Forman, Tim Curry, Joe Stidham, Terry McClure, Mike Padgett, Mickey Padgett, and Eric Padgett. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wed at the funeral home.
