Gladys Briggs, daughter of Mrs. Annie Briggs of Burnt Cabins, Pa., and a public school teacher at Saxton, was fatally hurt in an automobile accident in Saxton on Sunday last. She was taken to the hospital at Huntingdon and died Monday afternoon. Her remains were brought to the undertaking establishment of W.P. Dunmire and prepared for burial and then taken to her home in Burnt Cabins. She had only taught school a short time and was aged 18 years. Funeral will be held today, Thursday, in the M.E. church at Burnt Cabins.

Gladys Catharine Briggs, who met with a serious accident near Sazton, was born at Burnt Cabins, Fulton Co. Gladys was an unusually bright and industrious girl, having been a very delicate child in her younger years, she was somewhat hindered in her studies. The first of her educational career was at Altoona. Then she was left fatherless at the age of 8 years and from that time her home has been at Burnt Cabins. Having passed the common school examinations she attended the summer normal at Shade Gap, then later Orbisonia high school, also Juniata college where she received marks of high rank and made a large circle of friends. She was loved by teachers and student companions for to know her was to love her. She early embraced the religious faith, having united with the M.E. Church at Burnt Cabins at the age of 14 years and kept striving onward and upward in her church and Sunday school work. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Annie Briggs, little sister Pearle and aged grandmother. Dearest Gladys how we miss you, but our loss is Heaven's gain -- Her Mother. Funeral was held in the Methodist church Thursday at 10 p.m. by her pastor, Rev. George W. Swayne, asisted by Rev. Duvall of Orbisonia
