Ruper L. Stewart
Gowansville, Jan 20 -- Rupert L. Stewart, resident of Campobello, RFD No. 2 and for many years a well known farmer of upper Spartanburg county died in a Greenville hospital this afternoon. Mr. Stewart had lived in the same house 28 years and was highly esteemed in his community.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist church, which he served as deacon for 15 years.
Surviving are his widow, who before marriage was Miss Mildred Prewett and the following children: Toy P. and Grady A. Stewart of Gowansville, T.C. Stewart of Tryon, NC, the Rev. Paul Stewart of Columbia, Ala., Chester and Albert Stewart of Campobello, RFD No. 2; S.T. Stewart of Landrum, RFD No. 2, and Mrs. J.L. Caldwell of Campobello, RFD No. 2. and Mrs. Grady E. Lindsay. One brother Burrell J. Stewart of Highland and 31 grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held from Bethel Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Eston O. Vaughn, the Rev. T.E. Reed, and the Rev. J.H. Lackey officiating.
Grandsons as follows will act as pallbearers: Marvin and Roy Caldwell, Boyce, John R., Raymond and Boyd Stewart.
Honorary escort as follows will meet at church at 2 pm; M.L. Allen, D.E. Ferree, A.T. Phillips, W.T. Rainey, J.L. Petty, J.C. Caldwell, W.J. Gibson, W.J. Loftis and Tandy Smith.
