Carrie was born in Munger, Texas, to the late Doss Duel and Lucy Dunlap Loveless, next to the oldest of four children. She attended and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1933. Having lived through the Depression era, she learned self-reliance and strength in the face of hardship. She fought to the end with great dignity and quiet strength.
On December 1, 1933, she married Paul Haran Killough in the parsonage of the Hubbard First United Methodist Church. Together they faced the joys and rigors of over 50 years of farm life, moving to Bynum in 1959 before returning to Hubbard to retire in 1980. They celebrated almost 67 years of marriage before his passing away on November 10, 2000.
Carrie was an expert quilter and seamstress, creating beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren as lasting reminders of her love.
A lifelong Methodist, Carrie was a member of the Hubbard First United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She shared her love and talent for sewing by working with the "Quilters for Christ" for over 30 years, and she enjoyed the weekly fellowship of these ladies. She gladly contributed her skills, energy, and enthusiasm to help make the "Lord’s Acre" a success, knowing that the proceeds would be used to provide for the needs of the church. Those sharing the friendship of Carrie will long miss her humble spirit and dry sense of humor; but her remarkable spirit will live on in the artwork of her quilts.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon Loveless and Melvin Loveless; and most recently, a daughter, Melva Joyce Killough Pringle.
Survivors include her sons: Carrol Killough and wife, Sybil, of Land of the Hills, Illinois, Donald Killough, of Mesquite, Glynn Killough and wife, Jeanie, of Ovilla, and Dwain Killough and wife, Sarah, of Lillian; daughter, Janice Killough Trompler and husband, Charles, of Malone; son-in-law, Gene Pringle, of Plano; grandchildren: Terry Killough LaFin and husband, Bob, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Larry Killough and wife, Karen, of Land of the Hills, Illinois, David Sullins, of Plano, Gerald Sullins and wife, Jamie, of Arlington, Janet Killough Burrow and husband, Tim, of Grapevine, Nancy Killough Risinger and husband, Drew, of China Spring, Chris Killough and wife, Tammy, of Grand Prairie, Mark Killough, of Grapevine, Cory Trompler and wife, Mischa, of Malone, and Jody Trompler and wife, Natasha, of Lewisville; great-grandchildren: Rachel LaFin, Lauren, Haley, Nathan, and Sophie Killough, Ryan and Amanda Sullins, Cole and Claire Risinger, Caroline and Ben Burrow, and Abigail, Kaylee and Kaitlyn Trompler; sister-in-law, Dorotha Loveless, of Waxahachie; sister, Janelle Loveless Farrell and husband, Charles, of Cleburne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
