DAVENPORT - Funeral services for James R. Campbell, of Davenport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Mr. Campbell died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Davenport Good Samaritan Center. James Richard Campbell was born Oct. 30, 1930, to Ross and Venice (Bradwell) Campbell in Brazil, Iowa. He married Mary Lou Borgelt on Aug. 20, 1950, in Davenport. During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Campbell served as a gunners mate aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea with the 7th Division in the U.S. Navy. Jim was self-employed as a barber and owned and operated Jim's Barber Shop, Davenport, for 38 years, retiring in 1991. Mr. Campbell was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Davenport, a 50-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and a member of the U.S.S. Coral Sea Association. He most especially enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals and was an avid fan. Survivors include his wife, Mary Campbell, of Davenport; three daughters, Sally (Mrs. William) Lorber, of Ft. Salonga, Long Island, N.Y., Deborah (Mrs. Dan) Gillette, of Coal Valley, Ill., and Mary "Cathy" (Mrs. Roger) Williams, of Davenport; three sons, James Campbell Jr. (and his wife, Marietta), of Davenport, Kevin Campbell, of Davenport, and Marc Campbell (and his wife, Ramona), of Huntersville, N.C.; two sisters, Loretta Irvin, of Kansas City, Mo., and Audrey Drew, of Portland, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George. Memorials may go to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
