Albert served as a Master & Ship Captain, S.S. Massmar, Merchant Marines during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.

Due to heavy fog and an error in navigation the HMS Niger, which was leading a convoy of merchant ships, sailed into an allied minefield off Iceland. The S.S. Massmar was part of this convoy.

Albert was declared "Missing In Action" when the S.S. Massmar hit one of these mines and was sunk during the war.

He was awarded the Mariner's Medal.

His remains were not recovered.

Husband of Mrs. Lena Fisher Leimbach, who resided at 605 Pontiac Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland during the war.

Father of Jeanette M. Leimbach & Shirley June Leimbach.

Albert's name is only shown here at the Maryland National World War II Memorial.

This memorial to him is a "cenotaph" in his honor!
