C. RICHARDSON DIES AT HOME IN CALIFORNIA
Services Held Here Wednesday For Former Vermillion Fire Chief, Water Superintendent
Charles B. Richardson, 59, a Vermillion resident for many years, died at his home in
North Hollywood, Calif., Friday [July 21] following an illness of several months
caused by a heart ailment.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the First Baptist Church with Rev.
Raymond Nielsen officiating. The Elmore-Wagner Funeral home was in charge of
arrangements.
Phil Cleland, Carl Viers, Elmer Lenhart, Earl Armagost, Lowell Brookman and Walter
Cleland acted as pallbearers.
Charles Bertram Richardson was born November 9, 1884, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George
W. Richardson, who resided on a farm near Spirit Mound. He spent his youth on the
farm and in 1906 was married to Clara Engman. To this union were born three
children, Mrs. L. S. Wagner, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. E. R. Myron, North Hollywood; and
S. Sgt. Burdette E. Richardson, stationed at Washington, D. C.
Mr. Richardson served 13 years from 1918 to 1931 as fire chief in Vermillion. He
also held the position of water superintendent and milk inspector for several years.
In 1933 he was married to Gladdis M. Grange and in 1936 they moved to North
Hollywood, where he engaged in business until 1942, after which he.............
