SCOTTSBLUFF— Maxine Shearon Goerke, age 73, of Scottsbluff, died Saturday, December 15, 2001. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30a.m., Wednesday, December 19,2001 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff, with Father James O'Kane and Father Robert Karnish officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Agnes Restoration Project or to Prairie Haven Hospice. A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at the church. Friends who wish may call at The Jolliffe Funeral Home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m..

She was born March 3, 1928, in LeMars, Iowa, to John and Veronica (Dominick) Shearon. She grew up and received her education there, graduating from-high school with the class of 1946. She lived in Clinton. Iowa for a year and a half, and on May 29, 1948, she married Victor J. Goerke at Nashua. Iowa. She and her husband lived for a time in Colorado Springs, Colo, before moving to Lincoln, where they lived for five years. In 1953, the couple moved to Scottsbluff, where she has lived since. She worked for Campbell and Landers, MD's and Landers and Lacey, MD's as a bookkeeper and part time receptionist for twenty-eight years. She was devoted to raising her family and church activities and was a volunteer grandmother at St. Agnes School for three and a half years. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Altar Society there and was a Eucharistic Minister involved in taking communion to shut-ins.

She is survived by husband, Victor J. Goerke of Scottsbluff; sons and daughters in law, Gregory and Barbara Goerke of Scottsbluff, Brad and Michele Goerke of Glenrock, Wyo., Brian and Michaela Goerke of Omaha, and Tom and Kari Goerke of Denver.Colo.; daughters and sons in law, Vidri and Robert Wittry of Blair and Sandra and Michael Delsing of Kennesaw, Ga.; sister and brother in law, Celeste and Richard Masuen of LeMars, Iowa; brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Rose Shearon of Santa Maria, Calif., Sherman and Isabel Shearon of Clinton, Iowa and Delbert Shearon of Denver, Colo.; sisters in law, Leah Shearon of Sioux City, Iowa, Jean Goerke of Huntington Beach, Calif., Marcella Goerke of Medford. Ore. and Marita Shearon of LeMars, Iowa; grandchildren, Ty, Elizabeth, Gretchen and John Goerke; Christopher and wife Jennifer Wittry, Justin, Nicholas, Jennifer and Lindsey Wittry; Cory, Molly and Connor Goerke; Megan, Grant and Rachel Goerke; Elizabeth, Ryan and Jordan Delsing and Christian and Austin Goerke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Victor and three brothers, John, Donald and Wallace Shearon.
