Phyllis was a banker most of her life. She began her banking career in Arizona before moving to Ponca City, Oklahoma where she was employed by Security Bank and Trust Company. Phyllis later moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma where she was employed at the First National Bank and held the title of Executive Vice President.
Phyllis was the comptroller for A-Throne for 10 years before retirement.
She and George Rice were married in September, 1997.
Phyllis was a member of PSAI.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Perry, Oklahoma. Interment was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Perry. Services were under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.
In addition to her husband, George, Phyllis was survived by one son, Michael Vines of Leander, Texas; two step-sons, Mike Rice, of Long Beach, California and Benny Joe Vines of Globe, Arizona; one step-daughter, Dixie Vane, of Long Beach, California; four brothers, Billy Carroll and Bobby Dale Carroll, both of Drumright, Oklahoma, Jerry Carroll of Stroud, Oklahoma and Jimmy Carroll of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; one sister, Donna K. Garrett of Barling, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Ella Carroll, and one daughter.
