Richard C. Addison, 75, of Oak Harbor, Wash., passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, of a long term lung illness.
He was born Feb. 21, 1935, in Fresno. He had lived in Salinas for 20 years attending local schools. Richard was a graduate of Salinas High "53" and Hartnell "57" then moving on to graduate from Redlands University and Eastern Baptist Seminary. He was ordained as a minister by the Salinas First Baptist Church.
Richard was commissioned as a missionary to Africa where he served with his wife, Janice. While in and out of Africa, Richard and Jan had four sons and one daughter. They returned to the States living in the L.A. area and Washington state but always returned to Africa when needed.
Survivors: Richard is survived by his wife, Janice; four sons; one daughter; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his two brothers, Douglas and Kent Addison, both of Salinas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Grace Addison.
Graveside service: Friday, Aug. 27, at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor, Wash.
