CUMBERLAND — Louis Joseph Arnone, Sr., 83, of Cumberland, passed away on March 8, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 26, 1930 in Cumberland he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Waneta (Sharretts) Arnone. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert Arnone.

Louis was a United States veteran and served in the Navy. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School in 1949 and attended Frostburg State College. Louis and his father were owners and operators of Arnones Corner Dairy in the late 60s and early 70s. He also was employed by Chessie Systems as a freight conductor. Louis loved golfing and horseracing. He formerly resided in Lady Lake, Florida for twenty years before returning to Cumberland.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou Arnone; his daughter, Michele Crabtree and husband, Jesse of South Carolina; three sons, Louis Arnone Jr., Alan Arnone and Krista Cross all of Cumberland and Michael "Nort" Arnone of Florida; grandchildren, Brandi Nies of Oldtown, Alexandria, Virginia, Alyssa Smith and husband, Zachary of North Carolina, Marissa Arnone and Adam Morley, both of Cumberland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

As per Louis' request, he will be cremated.

Family and friends will gather at the American Legion Post 13 on Union Street, Cumberland on Monday at 6 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Chapel at the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Honor Guard Chaplain Bob Lloyd officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veteran's Honor Guard.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland.
