The Otsego Farmer

Mrs. Susan Baldwin

Mrs. Susan Baldwin, whose death took place at 1 o'clock Thursday night of last week at Oneotna, was born sixty-seven years ago in the town of Roseboom, and was a daughter of Garner and Matilda Rhines. All her early life was spent in that township. She was married forty-eight years ago to Henry A. Baldwin of the town of Westford and thereafter resided near Westville until the death of her husband, three years ago, when she came to Oneonta, and ever since had made her home with her daughter, MRs. W.J. Ellett, 21 Forest avenue. She had been in failing health since last June.
Mrs. Baldwin is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ellett, above named, and by seven grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Edwin Rhines, of Afton, and two sisters, Mrs. Alzina Baldwin of Springfield and Mrs. Calvin Walton of Cherry Valley. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Westville. A good friend and neighbor and a loving wife and mother, she leaves a wide circle of friends in the vicinity of her old home who will learn with the deepest regret of her death.
Prayer service for Mrs. Baldwin was held at noon on Sunday, the Rev. J.C. Johnson officiating, after which the body was taken to Westville, where the funeral was held at 2 p.m. in the church of which she was long a member. The rev. N.B. Ripley of Milford officiated and interment was made beside her husband in the family plot in the Westville cemetery.
