Daniel W. Burkholder, 73 years, 6 month, 7days, of New Holland, R.D.1 died at 6:30 o'clock this morning Friday, March 24,1972, in his residence.

Born in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, a son of the late John W. and Susanna Wenger Burkholder. He was the owner and operator of the Weaverland Garage and Daniel W. Burkholder and Sons Excavating.

He was a member of the Bridgeville Evangelical Congregational Church and the Men's Bible Class.

He is survived by his widow, Grace C. (Witwer) Burkholder; three sons: James W., husband of Pauline (Martin) Burkholder of East Earl R.D.2; D. Leroy, husband of Laverne (Sweigart)Burkholder of Ephrata R.D.3; R. George, husband of Dorothy (Kauffman) Burkholder of New Holland R.D.1; four daughters: Catharine S., wife of Roy R. Messner, East Earl R.D. 1; Grace I.,wife of Richard T. Brubaker, Lancaster; Helen B., wife of Howard L. Messner East Earl, R.D.2; Ruth M., wife of Arthur L. Gehr Sr., East Earl R.D.2; 39 grandchildren; two brothers: Michael W., East Earl R.D.2; the Rev. John W. Burkholder Blue Ball; and 3 sisters: Mrs. Anna W.Weaver of Stevens R.D.1; Lizzie W. wife of Rufus Horst of Kleinfeltersville; and Mrs. Mary Good of Stevens R.D.1.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Bridgeville E.C.Church, the Rev. John S. Heim officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren: Daniel L. Burkholder Jr., Terry L. Burkholder, Ronald J. Burkholder, George A. Burkholder, Kenneth L. Messner, Galen E. Burkholder, and Nelson R. Messner.
