Gene Cogburn, 82, a resident of Russellville, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, at his home.

He was born June 14, 1929, at Fort Smith to Jesse Otha and Dora Mae Hampton Cogburn.

He was a taxidermist and operated Gene's Taxidermy for 62 years and was retired from the Kroger Company. He was a member of the Bell Point Masonic Lodge of the Scottish Rite and was a 32 degree Mason; was a Lifetime Endowment Member of the National Rifle Association; was a charter member of the National Taxidermy Association; was a founder and member of the Old Fort Gun Collectors Association; and was a member of the Russellville First Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Louise (Harris) Cogburn.

Survivors include a son, Rick Cogburn of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mark Beckworth of Hernando, Mississippi; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill "B. J." and Corette Cogburn of Mountainburg, Dr. Bob E. and Beverly Cogburn of Mountain Home and Tom and Dorothy Cogburn of Boyce, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Robert Whiteaker of Durant, Oklahoma, Kyle Beckworth of St. Louis, Missouri, Carrie Rafferty of Summerville, South Carolina, Erin Wilson of Charleston, South Carolina and Kimberly Watts of Kathleen, Georgia; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Pinecrest Memorial Park at Alexander under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home
