Stephen Lassiter was born on February 23rd, 1761 in Bertie County, North Carolina, the son of Jacob Lassiter (1732-1778) and Ann* (Hooker) Lassiter (1735-1767). Stephen married Nancy Uzzell, a twin to Suzannah, and daughter of a successful family in North Carolina. They settled in that region and raised a family, being blessed with the following children:
Stephen, Jesse, Uzzell, Nathan, Jacob, Isham, Isom, Thomas Uzzell and Susannah.
Stephen Lassiter was a successful farmer during his nearly 60 years of life. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate his burial plot. It has been suggested that, following his death in 1820, he was most likely buried on the family's farm in Lenoir County, North Carolina. His wife, Nancy Uzzell (a twin of Susannah Uzzell), passed away 18 years later and was buried near her husband. May they all Rest in Peace with their ancestors and Loved Ones. If, at some time in the future, a marked grave site is found, the memorials will be merged.

The Lassiter name has also been spelled Lassater, Lassitter, Lasitter and Lassiter, that I have seen.

*The web site, FamilySearch.org lists Jacob's wife as Sarah Ann Harrell, given the same dates of birth and death as Ann (Hooker) Lassiter. I have not seen any matches under this name or Ann Hooker other than in FamilySearch.org.
