Ray D. (Buddie) Rice, 82, of the County Line community left this life to join our Lord on Nov. 9, 2006. He was the youngest of seven children of Charlie and Ollie Rice. He was a devoted husband, father and granddaddy. He farmed most of his 82 years in the County Line community, also serving in the Merchant Marines for four years (1942-1946). Buddie was also an accomplished carpenter.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Lynn; two sons, Jerry (Jeanne), Indiana and Danny (Mary), Lubbock; five grandchildren, Teresa Rice, Lubbock, Alex (Lisa) Rice, Ft. Worth, Kristy (Wesley) Weir, Abilene, Jenna and Jillian Rice, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Ashton and Lauren Rice, Ethan Weir, and one on the way; sister, Frances Hudson of County Line.

Funeral services will be held Saturday Nov. 11th at 3 p.m. at the County Line Baptist Church with the Reverend James Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Anton Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the County Line Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until service time.
