Donald Frederick "Don" Boteler, Sr
Birth: Aug. 22, 1934
Prince George's County
Maryland, USA
Death: Mar. 1, 2002
La Plata
Charles County
Maryland, USA

My father was born at home in Parkland, Prince George's County, Maryland, to Dorothy Elizabeth Alvey and Henry Maurice Boteler. He was the brother of Dorothy Dickson, Henry Maurice Boteler, Jr., Romona Boteler Smith, Gena Boteler Carpenter; Paul Alvin Boteler and Paul Edgar Boteler.

He worked various jobs growing up and met his wife, Marie, while working with horses. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri where they had their first daughter, Sharon Marie. While in Korea, his second daughter arrived at Andrews AFB in Maryland. He was watching an Elvis movie when they interrupted it and announced the arrival of his daughter, Theresa Ann. Charlotte Jean came along after he left the Army followed by his only son, Donald Frederick, Jr.

He worked hard as a heavy machine operator, for a sand and gravel company and also snow removal during the winter with the county. He then worked at his father-in-law's liquor store, Freddie's liquor where eventually he and Marie took control of it.

His greatest passion was fishing. He would spend hours at his in-law's farm on the Potomac in southern Maryland fishing and crabbing every weekend on either the pier or taking the boat out. He also enjoy the relaxation of camping in which he took his family on for vacations.

His dream was to own a house on the water front although that never happened. Three years before he died, they did purchase a home in the country on several wooded acres and a large swimming pool in which he enjoyed very much.

Daddy loved to watch John Wayne movies or old westerns on the TV. He was also fascinated with those art shows on TV where the guy would paint a landscape picture quickly. He also watch Emeril cook. Sitting on his large back porch and watch the birds come to his feeders and the deer in his large yard brought great pleasure to him as well.

He left behind his loving wife, Marie, three daughters, Sharon (Robert), Terri (David), Charlotte (Bob) and a son, Donald, Jr., as well as six grandchildren; Jennifer (Jay), Matthew, Nicole (Kenny), Michael, Christopher and Sarah.

Awaiting his arrival to heaven was his granddaughter, Kathryn Anne.
