He had his own small gas station, garage, and Ford auto dealership in Rockford, Washington in the 1920s-1940s, and later worked for his brother Ben Welman in Ben's Ford auto dealership in Sunland-Tujunga, California (Welman Ford, which later became Sunrise Ford).
