A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at King's Grace Fellowship in Junction City for Thomas William Heakin of Noti. He died Oct. 15 of cancer at age 74.

He was born May 16, 1933 in Pittsburgh to Nephi and Gertrude Heakin. Heakin graduated from high school and served in the Army for 23 years. He worked as a manager at A-1 Coupling for 29 years.
(Register Guard, 20Oct2007)

Tom and his wife Rosemary married in Reno, NV on 5Sep1982. It was the second time they married one another. He had a large family, all of whom loved and adored him deeply.

Some of the places he traveled to while in the Army were Japan, Vietnam, and Hawaii where he lived for some time. He recounted his experiences to anyone who would listen, and I for one never tired of hearing them.

Perhaps my favorite quote of all time from Tom is "There's only been two people on this earth who ever walked on water--and I'm one of them."
