John Lohri aka John Lohrei aka John Lorie aka John Lorey born abt 1843 in Leisenwald, Grand Duchy of Hesse of and by Rhine also known as Hesse-Darmstadt. Died April 24, 1889 in Perry Township, Monroe Co., Ohio, USA. He was married to Catherine Beisel in 1869. Their children are Mary E. Lohri, Louisa Reynolds, George W. Lohri, Anna Barbara Custard, and Gertrude Lohri. John arrived in Philadelphia aboard the Brig Bohl Bohlen on 1 Aug 1846 from the port of Bremen. John is a Union Civil War Veteran. At the age of 18 John enlisted as a private in Company C, 2nd Battalion, 2nd West Virginia Cavalry Regiment on 20 Oct 1861. He was wounded in action. His surname was misspelled as Lorie in U.S. Army documents.
