Virginia Gail Pinkston was born Feb. 4, 1925 at Arkansas City, Kansas. [She contracted polio at the age of 20, during a church trip to New York City, and while it didn't cripple her, the disease affected her permanently. She was] married December 21, 1947 to William Carl Busby, son of William and Lena Hahn Busby. Bill was born October 21, 1925 at Aurora, Illinois. They were married at Arkansas City, Kansas. Virginia graduated from Arkansas City High School and Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas. She worked in Franklin County, Kansas as a caseworker in 1948 and 1949. She has been a substitute teacher, volunteer teacher at All Faiths Receiving Home, Albuquerque Pre-School for mentally handicapped children, and teaches conversational English to International students. Her hobbies include reading, camping, travel, walking mountain trails and historical sites with her husband who shares these interest. Since retirement their trips have included visits to several foreign countries.

Obituary from the Albuquerque Journal, Thursday August 29, 2002:

Virginia Busby, 77, of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, died on Sunday, August 25, 2002. Those who celebrate her life are husband of 55 years, William; sister, Dorothy Fleener; daughters, Linda, Marilyn and Shari; granddaughters, Maria and husband Joey, Terra and Maria; and great-granddaughter, Michaela. Virginia's giving spirit will be remembered by the March of Dimes, All Faith's Receiving Home, Girl Scouts of America, and the English as a second language program at Hoffmantown Church. In keeping with her spirit, Virginia has donated her body to UNM Medical School. A memorial service will be held at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, on Friday, August 30, from 1:30 p.m - 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a polio foundation or a charity of your choice.

Her ashes were returned to us about 2 years after her death, by UNM Medical School. The school honored her and other donors in a lovely ceremony on campus. Her ashes are scattered in the Sandia Mountains that overlook Albuquerque.
