Beloved by family and friends, in 1918 Herma Jone Gerardy was born in Dallas, TX, and died November 24, 2003 in Santa Rosa, CA. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward in 1979. Loving mother of George Heiler and his wife Jean Boydston, Theresa Heiler, Anne Childs and her husband Ben, Judith Heiler and her husband John McCollister; adored grandmother of Kaity and Kevin McCollister.
She was the youngest of her family, and was affectionately known by the nickname "Babe". She achieved a 4.0 GPA in high school and began a lifelong love of dancing as she was growing up. She went by the name Jone in her adult years, and married Edward Heiler in 1946, and raised four children. She worked for 28 years for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. She took pride in and was admired and respected for her dedication, abilities and accomplishments in her career.
Jone loved to play bridge and participated in several bridge groups, including a lunch group at Douglas Aircraft. She enjoyed fine cuisine and attending theater and symphony performances. After retirement, Jone volunteered at Long Beach Community Hospital for several years, and then relocated to Santa Rosa to be near her family and grandchildren. It was her joy to be a part of her grand-children's lives and help raise them, they were a constant delight to her.
Our wonderful mother, grandmother and cherished friend, will be remembered with love, joy and gratitude for the gift that she was to our lives.
