son of John Van Buskirk and Mary Blackmore. He and his family crossed the plains in 1852, his wife (Margaret L. Evans) died in the Blue Mountains. He also servered in the War of 1812, and taught school in Kentucky in 1815, and moved to Ohio in 1817.
