Born to Wiley Berton and Nelle Elizabeth Caldwell Jones. Arthur was one of five boys, attending Amoret Schools for twelve years. He enlisted in the Navy, left on his 18th birthday and served in Guam and Japan. On April 20, 1952, her married Fern Marie Taute and to this union two sons were born, William Randall and Michael Lee. Arthur worked as postmaster in Amoret for 23 years. He also farmed all his life and continued to do so until his death. His first love was his family and doing for them, and he was always pleased to be of help to others. He was a member of the Virginia Methodist Church, American Legion, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Jolly Hour Club. He was actively involved in the Amoret Community Center and served on the Board of Directors.
