William was the Son of Raleigh Sanders Willingham and Lucretia Moon, who were first Cousins.
He was named after his well known Grand Father, "William Brooks Willingham 1773-1838 d. Walton Co.)

William fought with the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, he Enlisted with The Walton County SharpShooters Co. G. of the 35th Georgia Regiment. He was Killed at The Battle of Fredericksburg Dec. 3, 1862.

He married Frances Jane Thomas on Feb. 9, 1851. They had at least 4 Children and they are Buried in Cleburne and Etowah Counties, Al., along with Their mother.
