Mabel Corley was born on August 28, 1894 to Joe Corley and Sarah Jane Whitmore in Aiken County, South Carolina. She married Lennie J. Jones on 6 April 1913. They had three sons: Carlos, Rufus and Lee Otis Jones and six daughters: Bertie Mae, Irma, Ovedia, Elva Lee, Nana L. and Cleta Jones. Mabel died on Sep. 20, 1953 in Claxton, Evans County, Georgia of a cerebral hemorrhage. A morbid condition which gave rise to the hemorrhage is listed as uremia. The underlying cause of death was hypertensive cardiosomal disease.
